Alonzo G. Payne, who has been seriously ill at his home on East Green Street for several weeks, following a cerebral hemorrhage, died early on Friday monring. Funeral services at the Christian Church on Sunday afternoon were in charge of Rev John Servies. The pall bearers Fred Mitchell, Bernard Clore, Will Nunn, Robert Arvin, Charles Heinen and Louis Bushong. The flowers were carried by relatives and intimate friends. Burial at Waynetown. He was born in Monroe County, Kentucky, April 23, 1868, son of William V. and Amelia A. Payne. His first wife was Martha E. Miller; second wife Effie Oliver and third wife, who survies was Marie Teague. There was one son by the first marraige, Earl Payne of Fairbury, Ill; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Jarvis and Mrs. William K. Smith by the second. One son died in infancy. There are six grandchildren: Bernadine, Marilyn, John Howard, Lois and SHirley Payne of Fairbury, Ill and Eugene Smith of Darlington, and one sister, Mrs. LD Norman of Glasgow, Ky and two brothers, Frank Payne of St. John's Mich; and Melvin of Mud Lick, Ky. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Those present from a distance were: Frank Payne, St. John's Mich; Mrs. Sudie Norman and son, Summer Shade, Ky, Mrs. Annie Williamson, Mrs. Edith Knox, Indianapolis; Mr. and Mrs. David Moore of Waynetown; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Clemmens and Beatrice, Mrs. Finney, Carley Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Early, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Fruits, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Powell, Miss Leota Teague and William Weaver of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Cletis Payne, Earl Payne and Family, Mrs. Forence Bert and Elchord Payne of Fairbury, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Helmers of Cropsey, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. WIlliam Baldwin of New Richmond; Mrs. Othel Carter and son, Addison Bell of Kingman.
